MOSA's origins date back to 1999, pre-dating the National Organic Standards, and they were among the first USDA-accredited agencies in 2002. Founded by Midwest organic pioneers, including Dave Engel, a key figure in the success of MOSA, MOSES (now Marbleseed), and Organic Valley.
Today, MOSA is a financially stable nonprofit certification agency with 40 dedicated staff members headquartered in Viroqua, WI. We actively collaborate with industry organizations, emphasizing our strong commitment to organic principles.
